Giuseppe Gioacchino Belli schrieb in römischem Dialekt ein Sonett "Er padre de li santi", das John Keats, der englische Dichter und Protagonist in Anthony Burgess' Roman Abba Abba im Roman ins Englische übersetzt. Wenn auch das Original niemanden interessieren wird, stelle ich doch die "Übersetzung" online. Das Sonett ist ein sonetto caudato (Sonett mit Schwanz) -- eine besondere Form, die zu den üblichen 14 Versen einen "verso rotto" mit dem letzten Reim (D im konventionellen Schema ABBA ABBA CDC DCD) plus eine beliebige Reihe von weiteren Versen anhängt.

Here are some names, my son, we call the prick:
The chair, the yard, the nail, the kit, the cock,
The holofernes, rod, the sugar rock,
The dickory dickory dock, the liquorice stick,
The lusty Richard or the listless Dick,
The old blind man, the jump on twelve o'clock,
Mercurial finger, or the lead-fill'd sock,
